Maggie was an early female teacher for the bassworkshops Johnny hamil helped get started around the country. She has taught along Johnny in Twin Cities and ISB and even was gracious enough to perform with Johnny during his concerts. Maggie’s career and life has been an amazing one to watch. She is both equally an amazing classical player as well as an amazing Singer songwriter. She has an amazing bass playing husband and her amazing children!

Maggie Hasspacher is an actively performing bassist/vocalist originally from the Detroit area. She was recently interviewed on Miami’s local NPR station, 91.3 WLRN and performed live as a solo singer/songwriter (alias Maggie Rose). In addition, she just returned from classical bass studies in Vienna, Austria after winning a fellowship from the Kate Neal Kinley Fund in 2012. Before moving to Vienna, she was based in Los Angeles and worked as a freelance singer/bassist after completing her Master’s in classical bass at the University of Southern California. She sang for the History Channel’s “Hatfields and McCoys,” the PBS documentary “Craft in America,” and recorded in studios on multiple films and albums. While in LA she also curated an eight-month concert series at Freehand Gallery, helped found a modern music collective called Wild Up, and served as assistant to the producer of Don Crockett’s new opera The Face. She has premiered solo bass/voice compositions in Austria, Brooklyn, LA, and Miami and currently loves to arrange and perform music of all kinds in the United States.
