Hotels and tips

Shawnee Mission North High School 7401 Johnson Drive, Shawnee Mission, ks 66202 is the address for the workshop (8am-4 pm) is probably the place you’d want to be close to. With most evening concerts being downtown kcmo (10 min drive from workshop site) some like to experience that part of our cool city. So everything is pretty close and it would probably make your time nicer if you stayed close or somewhere between. Air b n b are great as we are in a nice suburb of downtown so there would be lots of options nearby. The city is pretty easy to get around by car as our traffic is only moderately heave in morning and evening rush hours. We don’t have great public transportation so having your own car is advised. Note: you should be able to leave your bass at site for the whole week and won’t have to take it back and forth. Our airport is not a good location to stay as it’s not as conveniently located. For anyone coming by plane we maybe able to arrange a pickup and drop-off for you depending on demand.

The Econo Lodge listed is incredible close to the school where we have daily classes. It has always gotten great reviews by the students that stay there as it’s clean, and very in expensive, swim pool is a plus, and the . As far as the workshop goes we have something for you to do all day and concerts at nite. So you don’t have a lot of downtime unless you just want take some for yourself. Some parents like having a nicer place as there are many great options Downtown kcmo and the plaza area that are not far from other places (museums The Nelson and Kemper, Legoland, aquarium, WWI museum, Science City, art district, and shopping). We also have amusement parks Worlds of fun/Oceans of Fun and The Kansas City Zoo that are good daytrips for any other non bass playing kids of the family. There are too many bbq places to recommend but, Arthur Bryants (1st) and Gates (2nd) bbq are good to try first then so many newer places close to our place. Rjs Bob-a-que, Woodyard bbq, Joe’s bbq, Rosedales bbq, Jack Stack bbq, Q39 bbq, and really sooooo many others (my dad’s comment was always “you can throw a rock in kc and find a great bbq place). You can spend the whole week trying them but, you should know that most kc people don’t eat bbq for breakfast lunch and dinner (We have lots of great other restaurants in town including many venues that have music and food). We do hope that you love our town while you visit which is all part of the kcbass experience.

Downtown: Westin hotel at crown center is in the same building as shopping, Legoland, union station, and WWI museum. So many parents have liked this as a good place to stay if they have other family members that need something great to do but, also have to work online. Of course, there are many others to try around these and many are at different price ranges. Having this to use as a location maybe the best way to find something in this area.

Plaza area: Intercontinental Hotel is a good starting point in this area. Like downtown you’d be not too far away but, also some good sites to visit. A unique to kc area for sure. More hotels around this one would be in different price ranges as well.
