Harish Kumar recently joined the Sonderjylland Symphony Orchestra in Sonderborg, Denmark. Previously he has performed with the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra in Sweden for the past 2 seasons. Notably he has performed with the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic, the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Malmo Symphony Orchestra, the Norrlands Opera , the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Helsinki Philharmonic, the Finnish National Opera, the Turku Philharmonic, the Oulu Sinfonia as well as the Oregon Symphony. Harish has also appeared at the Cabrillo Festival of Contemporary Music as well as the Oregon Bach Festival. He completed his Bachelor’s degree at Rice University with Paul Ellison after which we was awarded the Wagoner Foreign Study Fellowship to study in Paris with François Rabbath. Harish returned to the US to complete his graduate studies with David Allen Moore at the University of Southern California. Other major teachers include Peter Lloyd, Ali Yazdanfar and Nicholas Walker. Currently Harish performs on a double bass by Daniel Hachez made in 2011 and a modern French bow by bassist/archetier Jordan Scapinello.
